Programming
Dive into the world of film with CFA's semester-long, immersive production program designed for passionate middle and early high school students. This fast-paced, hands-on course goes beyond theory; students become filmmakers by developing real technical skills and visual storytelling instincts across core disciplines like Directing, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Sound Design, and Post-Production Editing, even touching upon Emerging Technologies & AI. The curriculum is enhanced with practical workshops, rotating electives (like documentary or VFX), and guest lectures from film industry professionals.
Every student will direct two original film projects and collaborate on peer productions, gaining experience operating professional cinema cameras (like SONY FX3) and lighting gear, while mastering industry-standard editing, sound, and color-grading software. The program culminates in a thrilling student film festival where young creators premiere their work on the big screen at Wayfarer Theaters in Highland Park, IL.
